In the meantime...
This would be so pretty for New Year's Eve, wouldn't it? Just a little prettiness to let y'all know I'm still alive and kicking. Not necessarily well, I think I caught the crud over Thanksgiving, but hopefully will be back to "normal" real soon! Hope you had a happy Thanksgiving, too! xoxo, Mott

The Great Smoky Mountains
Ahhh! The Smoky Mountains and their wonderful fall color! It doesn't get any better than this, does it? Sorry, I couldn't resist making the picture so big! It just loses some of its beauty in the medium size! :)

Us and Them with Her and Him
We enjoyed an evening of fun with the grandchildren and their mother and her mother and her husband with me and my husband! Now that's a confusing sentence, isn't it??? Have you figured out yet who all of those folks are?
The hubs and I met Tara, John's younger daughter, and the grandchildren at Water World and Jackie, Tara's mother, and Jackie's husband, Charles, were there, too. We had a great time even though the weather could have been a little more cooperative. BUT we will NOT complain about the rain as we have needed it very much.

And this is one of the two pictures I took while there as it was either raining or misting the whole time. I could just eat this little girl up! She is precious little Anna Kate!

My Mother (Jeanette Summerlin) 1930-2011
On Friday, May 13, 2011, my mom went home to be with her Lord and Savior.
She was a woman of great love, patience, humility, selflessness, etc., etc., etc. Similar adjectives could continue indefinitely. I've never met another like her and, no doubt, ever will. She loved her children like no other. She loved her husband like no other. But most of all, she loved the Lord with every ounce of her being.
She had battled Alzheimer's for many years. We had expected this horrible disease to rob her of all she was as it had already taken so much from her. But this was not to be! Praise God, she slipped peacefully from this world to the one she had been living for her entire life. Heaven opened its gates and welcomed her home!
Please continue to remember us in your thoughts and prayers as we come to accept life without the most precious treasure we have ever known, our mother.

Wisconsin
We had a blast on our trip to Milwaukee, Verona, and Madison, Wisconsin at the end of Sept. and first of October. These pictures are from the Wednesday night we arrived in downtown Milwaukee. It is beautiful there with the river walk and all the lights from the city.
I love the lights of Milwaukee at night! Aren't they beautiful?

From the look on John's face, sushi is not what he's looking for on the menu but I was in heaven when I saw that sign!

Our Koi Pond

Arggghhhhhh! I can't stand it! I cannot seem to find the "perfect" spot for the little fish pond we got from our neighbor.

We have tried it in the flower bed inside the courtyard...not enough room to use retaining wall block to cover up some of the pond form so...
...now I've got it in the corner of the courtyard up next to the sliding glass door and thought I liked it there. So we went to Lowe's and bought some decorative stone and now it seems I'm going to have to move it out from the glass door some more.
There is not enough room for the stone between the glass and the upper edge of the pond. I don't like being able to see the black plastic from inside the house. Things like that really bug me and it's something I would see all the time. That is the door (and yeah,...I noticed that the bottom of the door needs painting! LOL) that leads out to the courtyard from our eat-in kitchen. My husband is not a perfectionist like me. I think that is probably a good thing in some respects but it's worth the time, effort and SWEAT to me to go ahead and pull it out some more.
Maybe with a little "buttering up" I'll be able to get him to help me. We'll see! I hope your week is going good.
