Easter Sunday April 8, 2012

Rentman and I went to see my dad for Easter day. We had a good time. We stopped at KFC in Cairo, GA and picked up a 9 piece box and got mashed potatoes with gravy, and cole slaw. Everyone really enjoyed their meal. After getting the kitchen cleaned up, we retired to the living room where all rested their eyes! A little later we rode to the cemetery to see Mama's grave and to tell her we loved her (and I wished her a Happy Easter in heaven)! A little later, I wandered outside and took some pictures of the home place. When Mama and Daddy built the house, it had yellow asbestos shingles on it. Quite some time ago, they added on a new kitchen/dining room combo, a new laundry room with pantry and a study for Daddy and bricked the house. It really made a difference! I will always love that house as it is where I returned to from the hospital after I was born. It holds many, many memories! I'll share some pics of the house with you!

This is the barn that Daddy had built many years ago. He keeps everything you can imagine in it but if he needs something, he knows where to go look for it! I'm a lot like my daddy. I think I need a big barn, too!

This is the carport side of the house. It was also added on. Behind the door is the dining room/kitchen. Mama cooked many a wonderful meal in that kitchen.

This is part of the back of the house. That is the kitchen window and you can watch the birds eat from their feeder and drink water from the bird bath. You can also watch the squirrels steal as many pecans when the season is ripe, too. They will either eat them in the tree or they will run go bury them.

This is a huge fig tree! I stand under it in the summer and eat figs to my heart's (or should I say stomach's) content! I love figs so much!

This is standing under the fig tree looking up towards the sun. I thought it was an interesting picture. However, the mosquitos thought my legs were more interesting than I thought the sun was. Ouch!

I'll leave you with some of Mama's amaryllis. Even when we're gone, life still goes on and new life comes up from the ground again. Seasons come and seasons go, but with each one something new is always coming back to life.

In the meantime...

This would be so pretty for New Year's Eve, wouldn't it? Just a little prettiness to let y'all know I'm still alive and kicking. Not necessarily well, I think I caught the crud over Thanksgiving, but hopefully will be back to "normal" real soon! Hope you had a happy Thanksgiving, too! xoxo, Mott

The Great Smoky Mountains

Ahhh! The Smoky Mountains and their wonderful fall color! It doesn't get any better than this, does it? Sorry, I couldn't resist making the picture so big! It just loses some of its beauty in the medium size! :)

Us and Them with Her and Him

We enjoyed an evening of fun with the grandchildren and their mother and her mother and her husband with me and my husband! Now that's a confusing sentence, isn't it??? Have you figured out yet who all of those folks are?

The hubs and I met Tara, John's younger daughter, and the grandchildren at Water World and Jackie, Tara's mother, and Jackie's husband, Charles, were there, too. We had a great time even though the weather could have been a little more cooperative. BUT we will NOT complain about the rain as we have needed it very much.

And this is one of the two pictures I took while there as it was either raining or misting the whole time. I could just eat this little girl up! She is precious little Anna Kate!

My Mother (Jeanette Summerlin) 1930-2011

On Friday, May 13, 2011, my mom went home to be with her Lord and Savior.

She was a woman of great love, patience, humility, selflessness, etc., etc., etc. Similar adjectives could continue indefinitely. I've never met another like her and, no doubt, ever will. She loved her children like no other. She loved her husband like no other. But most of all, she loved the Lord with every ounce of her being.

She had battled Alzheimer's for many years. We had expected this horrible disease to rob her of all she was  as it had already taken so much from her. But this was not to be! Praise God, she slipped peacefully from this world to the one she had been living for her entire life. Heaven opened its gates and welcomed her home!

Please continue to remember us in your thoughts and prayers as we come to accept life without the most precious treasure we have ever known, our mother.

We had a blast on our trip to Milwaukee, Verona, and Madison, Wisconsin at the end of Sept. and first of October. These pictures are from the Wednesday night we arrived in downtown Milwaukee. It is beautiful there with the river walk and all the lights from the city.

Which way did he go, George, which way did he go???

The lights of the clock were the first thing we saw from the interstate so we headed downtown.

There were pubs everywhere! Too bad we had to drive to Waukesha to our hotel or it would have taken lots of persuasion to not stop at one. =)

There is a lot of foot traffic in downtown Milwaukee, four feet included!

I love the lights of Milwaukee at night! Aren't they beautiful?

From the look on John's face, sushi is not what he's looking for on the menu but I was in heaven when I saw that sign!

One look in this window and I knew I was looking inside Anthropology. They have the most unique displays. I love, love, love these stores. It's a good thing there's not one where I live or I would be so in debt to MasterCard! :)

pedaltavern.com Anyone? anyone???

Can you say "WOLF"?

Had enough of the kitchen? (Not me :( I want it very badly!)

How would you like for this to be your "driveway"???

--and home for the night! LOL Whew, it's been a long day! Thanks for going along with me! Stay tuned...
